In addition to the International Baccalaureate program, Parkland is well known for its Marine Academy.  Students at Parkland can take courses in Marine Science, Marine Trades, and can participate in our Sailing Academy.  Parkland has a strong Trades and Technology program offering courses in Wood, Metal, Mechanics, and Computer Technology and Innovation.  Each year Parkland stages a full musical theatre production in our state-of-the-art theatre drawing huge crowds from the local community.  Students can also take courses in Music, Dance, Acting and Directing, Visual Arts and Digital Media. Parkland is also home to a Hockey Academy and Canada's only Judo Academy.

Athletics are a big part of Parkland's culture and every year Parkland runs teams in volleyball, basketball, soccer, rowing, track and field to name a few.

Parkland is a school of approximately 600 students where the staff pride themselves on delivering top notch programs to students that they know and care for.  In an increasingly complex world, a community school where all students are known is one of its greatest assets.

I will sign up for IB in grade 11 because I'm interested in achieving a higher level of education and would like to have a more in-depth type of learning experience.

I want a career in medical neuroscience and believe it will be easier to get into the University of Western Australia with an IB diploma.

I'm excited about the IB.  I'm looking forward to working independently in a more self-directed manner on my own learning.  I like that so many of the Parkland teachers seem excited about it too!
